Jiordana Saade Episode

In the latest episode of the Empowerography Podcast, my guest is Jiordana Saade. Jiordana Saade is the founder of The Mind-Full Clinic.I am a holistic nutritionist with a background in Psychology, and a special interest in how what we eat affects how we feel. I got into psychology because I grew up with child obesity and struggled with body image issues, multiple eating disorders and bouts of depression. As I became more interested in my body, I began to understand how changing my diet had a profound influence on my overall mood, and my deep bouts of depression vanished. It was here that I became curious about the gut/brain connection and decided to enroll at the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where I graduated as valedictorian with first class honors. In this episode we discuss psychology, nutrition, bullying, eating and food disorders, mental health, finding your purpose and asking for what you want.

My name is Jiordana Saade,

I am the founder of “The Mind-Full Clinic”.

I am a holistic nutritionist with a background in Psychology, and a special interest in how what we eat affects how we feel.

Upon graduation I was hired to work as the only nutritionist at an obesity medicine clinic in Oakville, where I had the opportunity to work alongside Dr. Mohammed Abrahim, who just dropped a fantastic book and we are in the process of writing the sequel together!

In the clinic it became apparent to me that there is this huge population of people that you cannot really help with diet alone. Most people know that an apple is healthier than a chocolate bar, but some still choose the chocolate bar anyways. For some individuals, their behavior does not line up with their goals, which leaves them feeling bad about themselves and guilty and further perpetuates poor decision making!

I wanted to dig deeper and understand the interconnections between our intentions and our behavior.

I went back to school to complete a degree in behavioral sciences and will continue to complete my PhD in behavioral Psychology.

Ideally my hope is to get a better understanding of the connection between brain—behavior activity and how we can begin to overcome maladaptive habits, specifically surrounding food behaviors.

I truly believe that by overcoming behaviors of self-sabotage, we can develop a healthy relationship with ourselves and with the thing number one thing keeping us alive…. FOOD!
